📍 Verina Astra | Sifnos, Greece I first stayed 📍 Verina Astra | Sifnos, Greece I first stayed here back in 2018 and returned a couple of summers ago. It’s one I kind of want to shout from the rooftops, but also keep as a very close secret. 🤍 But the secret is kind of getting out. Verina Astra has been featured on lists of the best hotels by Conde Nast Traveler, so it’s definitely gained attention. The hotel has newer freestanding villas with private plunge pools and an on site restaurant serving incredible meals under the olive trees with amazing sea views. And the view alone is a big selling point here. Overlooking the Aegean Sea, all you see is the occasional distant island and deep blue water that seems to go on forever. The hotel itself is small, boutique, and intimate, and the hospitality from their team is some of the best I’ve experienced in all of Greece. The on site spa is super small, with just a couple of treatment rooms, but the setting is incredible. Big glass windows look out over the sea and the whole space feels so serene. I had one of the best massages, which ended with an unexpected facial that was such a nice touch! 🧖‍♀️ If you’re planning a Greece trip and looking for one of the best hotels in Greece for a quieter, more intimate island escape, put Verina Astra on your list. Sifnos is such a special island and this hotel is a big part of what makes it so memorable! One thing to know: the last time I stayed, I booked this hotel a YEAR in advance. Some are better for beach days and relaxing, while others are all about exploring villages, dining out, and a little nightlife. Think about the kind of trip you want before deciding where to go. 2. Overlooking boutique, family run hotels. I love a Four Seasons hotel as much as anyone, but some of my favorite stays in Greece are smaller, locally owned properties with so much character and a more personal feel. Don’t assume the big name luxury hotels are always the best choice! 3. Not spending enough time on each island. Island hopping sounds fun, but moving around too much means wasting precious vacation time on ferries, flights, and transfers. I’d rather spend a few extra nights in each place and actually enjoy it than try to squeeze too much into one trip. 4. Waiting too long to book. Some of my favorite stays in Greece book up a year in advance, especially for the summer months. If you have your heart set on a particular hotel or island, don’t wait until the last minute. The best time to book your 2027 Greece trip is right now! Greece is a destination where a little planning makes a big difference.
